I knew at this point that there was something up. I quickly explained that I did not send a request or invite for them to join the app. Within about 30 minutes of this message, I was bombarded with about 15 messages from my contacts asking me to explain why I needed them to download this app which was Marco Polo. I asked them to explain and they said that they didn't send me an invite to join the app. The friend texts back and says to ignore the message I was seeing. (I don't allow anything to go on without my consent.) I text the friend back and ask them to send me the video they want me to see.

I download the app, set my preferences, and then set my permissions. It took me to an invite template that then redirected me to the app store page. I clicked the link after verifying it wasn't malware. Today I randomly got a text message from my friend addressing me by name to go to a link provided and download the app there because they have a video message to give me. We need to get the word out so this distasteful business practice will not stand. And lastly report the app to your app store. If you have a mobile app called Marco Polo on your phone.you need to do the following now.

I'm not one to usually get into a fuss about apps or anything, but I cannot stand companies making money and increasing business with a deceptive practice.
